DWP refuses to publish figures that would show how disabled people seeking to claim universal credit are experiencing the WCA process

What: The minister for disabled people, Chloe Smith, tells her Labour shadow Vicky Foxcroft that DWP is “currently unable” to statistics showing how universal credit claimants are faring in the WCA system because they could only be provided at “disproportionate cost”.

Why significant: This failure to produce the statistics comes more than eight years after the government began its rollout of universal credit, and despite a decade of concerns about the links between the WCA process and the deaths of claimants.
