Formation of Black Activists Rising Against the Cuts (BARAC).

What: Black Activists Rising Against the Cuts (BARAC) is formed as a coalition of black, public and voluntary sector workers, trade unionists, community organisations, service users and concerned individuals whose aim is to create a critical mass of opposition to the Government plans to cut vital services and sack thousands of public sector workers, including many black workers, across the country.

Why significant: BARAC plays a key role in BARAC campaigning against racism, injustice, the adverse impact of austerity on Black communities, and for migrant and refugee rights. BARAC have done a lot of campaigning in coalition with disabled people’s groups.
