Formation of Sisters of Frida – disabled women’s collective.
What: Sisters of Frida is formed – an experimental collective of disabled women is created – bringing together the feminist and disability rights movement in the UK, and doing cross-movement solidarity work. The co founders are Eleanor Lisney, Michelle Daley, Eleanor Firman, Maria Zedda, Svetlana Kotova, Frieda Van De Poll and Martine Miel.
Why significant: Sisters of Frida are key in practicing an intersectional approach and doing cross-movement solidarity work, for example, campaigning alongside other disabled-led groups on numerous issues including welfare cuts.
