MP Debbie Abrahams asks the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) to investigate why evidence about deaths linked to the work capability assessment (WCA) was withheld from independent reviews.

What: Labour MP Debbie Abrahams (a former shadow work and pensions secretary) writes to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) to ask it to investigate why ministers failed to send crucial evidence about deaths linked to the WCA to Dr Paul Litchfield (who led the fourth and fifth independent reviews into WCAs). Abrahams also asks EHRC to launch an investigation into deaths linked to the WCA and PIP assessment processes.

Why significant: Abrahams is one of the few MPs to push for an inquiry into deaths linked to DWP’s failures.
